Radio and telephone allow us to communicate across great distances. Lovers and families, strangers and enemies, tell each other stories that might overlap, interfere and be overheard. The long route of a transmitted signal always holds enigmatic voids; it remains a journey into the unknown. Especially in film history, feelings of insecurity, even fear, are attached to the image of a phone call. “It’s Strange To Be Calling Yourself (Maybe It’s Not Me)” makes use of some scenes from David Lynch’s movies, and collages them into a polyphonic narrative that eludes a specific event in history, thus enabling us to project other stories onto it.
